Our History

BGA Historical Timeline

  • 1970 – The Bean Growers Co-op set up a rural merchandising division on River Rd, Kingaroy
     
  • 1987 – An additional warehouse and administration facility at Youngment St, Kingaroy was purchased.
     
  • BGA - Youngman St, Kingaroy - 1990s

    1991 – Bean Growers entered a joint venture with South Burnett Co-operative Dairy Association Ltd under the Burnett Rural name in Murgon
     
  • 1995 – Bean Growers bought the remaining 50% of the Burnett Rural business. During this time, Bean Growers had applied the BGA Rural Services name to it's Kingaroy rural merchandising business.
     
  • 1999 – April 1st, BGA Rural Services was transferred from Bean Growers Australia into a separate rural merchandising company known as BGA AgriServices Pty Ltd. This included the Burnett Rural business in Murgon.
     
  • 2001 – BGA AgriServices became a public unlisted company known as BGA AgriServices Ltd.It had rural merchandising stores in Kingaroy and Murgon and operated a bulk fertiliser depot. The shareholders were Beangrowers 75% and existing Beangrower shareholders 25% at the time of execution.
     
  • 2002 – BGA AgriServices Ltd issued an offer of information statement inviting customers and stuff to buy shares into the company. BGA AgriServices set up a steel division in Youngmen St, Kingaroy.
     
  • 2003 – The BGA AgriServices Ltd store at Kingaroy was extended to provide more showroom space to cater for a 'Thrifty-Link Hardware' franchise. BGA AgriServices also acquired the Growforce business in Kumbia.
     
  • 2004 – BGA acquired a store in Goomeri, giving it four outlets through out the South Burnett.

  • 2005 – Wide Bay Rural Supplies was purchased from Ruralco by BGA AgriServices. Three extra stores in Bundaberg South, Oakwood and Childers came under the BGA banner. These stores now trade as BGA AgriServices.
     
  • 2010 – RMS, Toogoolawah was purchased by BGA AgriServices, allowing BGA to expand into the Brisbane Valley.
    Casino Rural Traders, Casino was purchased by BGA AgriServices, allowing BGA to expand into Northern New South Wales.
    BGA AgriServices Tyndale was opened in October 2010, expanding BGA's service into the Grafton region

  • 2011 – Rural Buying Services, Grafton was purchased by BGA AgriServices
    In September, Ruralco Holdings Ltd is successful in securing the shares of BGA AgriServices. Hence BGA AgriServices is now a Ruralco business
